Pro Tip

Track your putts by distance bucket: 0-5 feet, 6-15 feet, 16-30 feet, and 30+ feet. PGA Tour data shows the biggest improvement opportunity for most amateurs is in 6-15 foot conversion (tour: 55%, 10-handicap: 20%). Improving mid-range putting by even 10 percentage points saves roughly 2 shots per round without changing full swing mechanics.

Did you know?

Bernhard Langer, competing on the PGA Tour Champions (seniors tour) in his 60s, averaged fewer putts per round than most players 30 years younger — despite having suffered from the yips multiple times in his career and reinventing his putting technique no fewer than four times. His longest putter grip held below the left forearm became one of the most unusual and effective putting styles in history.
